Dr. Cook is an Interventional Radiologist with an interest in nonsurgical minimally invasive techniques to treat peripheral artery disease by increasing blood flow to improve wound healing or help with walking pain.  Using the similar techniques, he uses blood vessels to reduce blood flow and deliver therapeutics to abnormal or enlarged tissues such as tumors, enlarged prostates, and fibroids.

Dr. Cook has been interested in Interventional Radiology since medical school where he received the Dean’s Award for Academic Achievement and the John Faunce Roach award for excellence in Radiology.  As a resident and fellow, he demonstrated an early aptitude for minimally invasive procedures and teaching, being awarded the fellow’s teaching award before being recruited to stay on staff.

In his early career he was integral in starting the Hepatobiliary multidisciplinary group at Denver Health where he served as co-chair until his departure.  He was a pioneering interventionalist in early vascular stroke care and performed the first mechanical stroke thrombectomy at Denver Health.

Dr. Cook has served many clinical roles in vascular disease, renal disease, dialysis, and trauma.  He has also served in hospital leadership as Division Chief of Interventional Radiology. Under his leadership a multidisciplinary vascular team was developed to address aortic disease, both traumatic and nontraumatic.  He has published articles, a book chapter, given numerous lectures, and trained many classes of residents and fellows. He has been awarded 5280 magazines “Top Doc” in Vascular and Interventional Radiology twice.
